Sega released the first Shenmue game in Japan in December 1999 on its Dreamcast console, with North American and European releases following in 2000. The second game was released in 2001 in Japan and Europe on the same console, followed by a reissue on Xbox in the US in 2002 and Europe in 2003.
A compilation of the first two games was released in 2018 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Sega published the franchise’s third game, Shenmue III, worldwide in November 2019 on Playstation 4 and PC following a successful crowdfunding campaign.
