Komi Can’t Communicate Anime Season 2 Key Visual, New Cast, Opening/Ending Revealed

The official wesbite for the television anime of Tomohito Oda’s Komi Can’t Communicate (Comi-san wa Comyushō desu.) manga announced on Wednesday that the anime’s second season will premiere on April 6. The website also revealed an additional cast member, new opening and ending theme songs, and a visual.

Newly announced cast includes

Shin’ichirō Kamio as Makoto Katai, who is also bad at communicating. During summer vacation, he exercised and dyed his hair causing him to look like a deliquent.

Miku Itō is performing the second opening theme song “Ao 100 Iro” (100 Blue Colors), and FantasticYouth are performing the second ending theme song “Koshaberi Biyori” (Fine Day for Small Talk).

The second season will premiere on TV Tokyo and other channels on April 6 at 12:00 a.m. JST (effectively, April 7).

Netflix debuted the anime outside of Japan on October 21, two weeks after its Japanese premiere, with weekly new episodes. The service is also streaming an English dub. Netflix is streaming the anime in over 190 countries and territories in eight languages dubbed and 31 languages subtitled.

Synopsis

Hitohito Tadano is an ordinary boy who heads into his first day of high school with a clear plan: to avoid trouble and do his best to blend in with others. Unfortunately, he fails right away when he takes the seat beside the school’s madonna—Shouko Komi. His peers now recognize him as someone to eliminate for a chance to sit next to the most beautiful girl in class.

Gorgeous and graceful with long, dark hair, Komi is universally adored and immensely popular despite her mysterious persona. However, unbeknownst to everyone, she has crippling anxiety and a communication disorder which prevents her from wholeheartedly socializing with her classmates.

When left alone in the classroom, a chain of events forces Komi to interact with Tadano through writing on the blackboard, as if in a one-way conversation. Being the first person to realize she cannot communicate properly, Tadano picks up the chalk and begins to write as well. He eventually discovers that Komi’s goal is to make one hundred friends during her time in high school. To this end, he decides to lend her a helping hand, thus also becoming her first-ever friend.
