3 Huge Anime War Arcs Will Run in 2022

We’ve entered 2022, and among a ton of incredibly hype anime coming, there are huge war arcs, and it seems like an interesting fun fact that all 3 of these will have a run in the same year. Let’s take a look:

Table of contents

Starting with the war we’ll watch first, the Attack on Titan anime will continue its War for Paradis arc in Winter 2022. It already began last winter, since Part 1 of the Final Season covered several of its chapters (107-116). This is the 9th and final arc of the original manga by Hajime Isayama, and its total length includes chapters 107-139. Eren is ready to face the Marleyan military forces, with the face-off against Reiner being the thing we’re all waiting for after that cliffhanger!

It will begin on January 9 with episode 76 “Judgement” and will be available on Funimation and Crunchyroll. The story:

The war for Paradis zeroes in on Shiganshina just as Jaegerists have seized control. After taking a huge blow from a surprise attack led by Eren, Marley swiftly acts to return the favor. With Zeke’s true plan revealed and a military forced under new rule, this battle might be fought on two fronts. Does Eren intend on fulfilling his half-brother’s wishes or does he have a plan of his own? (Funimation)

Next we will have the BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc anime, which is set to begin in October 2022 (Fall). It is also the final arc of its original manga, though its spans through a lot of chapters. To be precise, it covers chapter 480-696 (volumes 55-74) of Tite Kubo’s manga. VIZ is publishing the manga in English, and they describe the story of volume 55:

The peace is suddenly broken when warning sirens blare through the Soul Society. Residents there are disappearing without a trace, and nobody knows who’s behind it. Meanwhile, a dark shadow is also extending itself toward Ichigo and his friends in Karakura Town…

Finally, the 3rd war arc will happen in My Hero Academia and it’s the Paranormal Liberation War Arc, also set for Fall 2022. Just like with Attack on Titan, this one also began in its last anime season. It covers chapters 253-306 of Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga, while season 6 will begin from chapter 257. A huge war is brewing for the Heroes, and they will be facing Shigaraki’s new body and the new Paranormal Liberation Front. VIZ is publishing the manga in English, and they describe the story of volume 27:

The confrontation between the heroes and the villains of the Paranormal Liberation Front is about to kick off! With so much at stake, even the students of U.A. have joined the heroes to help in the coming battles. Within the PLF, Hawks continues to play a dangerous game as a double agent, but the villains have fearsome resources of their own, including whatever lurks in the doctor’s lab. Plus, with every moment that passes, Tomura Shigaraki comes closer to his ultimate form… When it all gets started, there won’t be any going back!

Bonus: Kaguya-sama: Love is War

Although not really an arc, another war is coming in April 2022, albeit one not quite like the others. Kaguya-sama: Love is War returns with season 3, and the war for who will confess first between Miyuki and Kaguya will continue. They released a teaser trailer “Yu Ishigami Wants to Chat” which covers the entire chapter 110 of Akasaka Aka’s original manga. You can watch that below:
