Among the numerous popular anime genres, the mystery thriller genre is one that sticks out. It could be because anime stories are typically far more mature and meaningful than what the average person anticipates from anime. It could also be that, while some of these shows feature fantastic elements, they frequently feature more serious storytelling or underlying themes that mirror reality or the less beautiful and idealistic sides of life. As a result of these factors, anime fans of all kinds have taken to the genre. so we made a list of top 10 suspense animes.
Top 10 Suspense Animes:
Number 10:
Ergo Proxy (1 Season 23 Episodes)
One of the last human civilizations on Earth resides within the domed city of Romdo. A massive ecological calamity devastated the planet thousands of years ago; now, life beyond these domes is nearly impossible. “AutoReivs,” humanoid-like robots, have been built to aid humans in their daily lives in order to speed up mankind’s recovery. AutoReivs, on the other hand, have started developing an inexplicable ailment known as the “Cogito Virus,” which gives them self-awareness. With her AutoReiv companion Iggy, Re-l Mayer, granddaughter of Romdo’s king, is assigned to examine this phenomenon. But, as Re-l is confronted with humanity’s greatest atrocities, what begins as a routine probe gradually develops into a conspiracy.
Perhaps the story would be stronger if a number of dubious scenes were removed, and the character drawings” would be more consistent. As a result, I can’t say that this show is a flawless masterpiece. However, I will easily give it an exceptional grade and add it to my own top-10 with delight.
However, if you’re looking for a captivating story, aren’t frightened of an intellectual challenge, are open-minded, and can sit through 23 episodes, I strongly recommend you to watch this show. Of course, I can’t promise you’ll enjoy it as much as I do, but I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

Number 9:
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace (1 Season 11 Episodes)
Yoshio Kobayashi wakes up in his classroom after what looks to be an average day to find a horrific discovery: his teacher has been mutilated, and Yoshio happens to be clutching the weapon used to perpetrate the murder. Despite his first horror at being in this situation, Yoshio, who is curious and detached, can’t help but be secretly delighted by this attempt to frame him. Souji Hashiba, Yoshio’s betrayed buddy, is turned into a willing collaborator, and the two of them are motivated to prove Yoshio’s innocence. Furthermore, Kogorou Akechi, a brilliant high school investigator, has arrived at the crime scene to investigate the case, and when Kogorou meets the young man found guilty, an intense mutual interest develops between them. Kobayashi wants to work as an assistant in Akechi’s crime-solving business, and Akechi is eager to see if the eager young man is up to the task.
The morality of vigilantism vs. law, Japanese rules on mentally ill criminals, and even determinism vs. free choice are all explored by Ranpo Kitan. It does it without coming across as arrogant, which is difficult. Overall, it had a good blend of action and character development. Yoshihiro Nishimura and Edogawa Rampo’s mutant freak baby is this series. That’s cool in its own right.
Genre: Mystery, Gore
Studio: Lerche

Number 8:
Serial Experiments Lain (1 Season 13 Episodes)
After her classmate Chisa Yomoda commits suicide, a young, antisocial middle school girl called Lain Iwakura becomes fascinated by the futuristic technology around them, leading her to access a whole new realm they call “The Wired” (read: the Internet). Lain has only met the girl once, but she communicates with her on the other side, inviting her to the Wired. As Lain’s fascination with the medium grows, she is taken along a path that reveals all of the realities about reality, identity, and how we connect with one another. All of this makes her wonder about her own humanity. Ethical problems and metaphysical shenanigans involving a plethora of literary/cultural allusions, philosophical frameworks, metaphysics, symbolism, the psychological makeup of the characters, and much more arise, revealing the true motivations of The Wired’s designers and sponsors. The line separating The Wired from the actual world isn’t always apparent. The story’s core premise is ‘scientific fact,’ but the dramatic depiction of the events that follow will transport you to a world of pure science fiction, where reality’s conventions are completely and repeatedly disregarded. That’s the kind of show it is. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it show that can appeal to both casual viewers and non-anime lovers. Also, something that computer and technology geeks would enjoy.
SEL is not “worth a shot,” but it is far superior to and more recommended than most anime. However, keep in mind that this is not an action-packed shonen that you can watch in one sitting. After each episode, you should take some time to reflect on what you’ve just seen. However, it will be worth your effort in the end, and you will have the satisfaction of having watched an anime classic that has helped you open your mind.

Number 7:
91 Days (1 Season 12 Episodes)
Angelo Lagusa witnessed a tragedy as a boy growing up in the hamlet of Lawless: his parents and younger brother were brutally murdered by the Vanetti mafia family. He abandons his name and hometown, adopting the new identity of Avilio Bruno, after losing all he holds dear.
When Avilio receives a mystery letter motivating him to return to Lawless seven years later, he finally has his opportunity for vengeance. Obligingly, he soon finds the Vanetti don’s son, Nero, and uses the talents he has silently nurtured for years to befriend him. 91 Days is a film set during the Prohibition era that chronicles the narrative of Avilio’s terrible, bloodstained quest to vengeance as he systematically eliminates each of the individuals responsible for the murder of his family.
91 Days is a drama that is more than just about mafia conflicts, revenge stories, and crime. Every now and then, we receive a violent mobster narrative. Some of them are merely catering to fans by providing fan service. Others accurately depict how dark humanity may be in a society devoid of regulations. 91 Days is the type of show that depicts humanity’s worst side. That, I must say, it’s something to be watch of.

Number 6:
Golgo 13 (1 Season 50 Episodes)
Golgo 13 is an episodic show. A single man, a single task, and a single episode. The writing is consistently fucking excellent, which is the best part. For example, He trolls the police forces in five different ways in one episode, and they all fall under his master troll, but it’s not a keikaku doori tier meme; everything is organized and revealed to the audience. And it works because the cops are performing their job just as they should. Our dude was sentenced to life in prison the last time he broke out of the “unbreakable” jail with an inmate, only to shoot him moments later. Only seven episodes were less than fantastic, putting similar shows like City Hunter to shame. Almost every episode is distinct and different from the previous one, making the show addictive to watch. It’s impressive how well-versed the writer is on a variety of topics and how he manages to generate good episodes based on them all.
It’s a fun experience to see, with some fun moments and a few twists and turns along the road. If you have the opportunity, have a look at it.

Number 5:
Jormungand (2 Season 24 Episodes)
Koko Hekmatyar is a teenage arms dealer who sells firearms through HCLI, an international shipping company and criminal smuggling enterprise. She sells firearms in a range of nations while avoiding both local and international authorities as one of the company’s unauthorized weapon dealers. A group of bodyguards, largely former soldiers, accompany her on her journey. Jonah, a quiet and deadly young soldier who despises arms traffickers, is the newest member of her crew.
Jormungand may not appear complex at first, but as you learn more about it, you’ll realize that it’s more than just a simple gunfight anime, that the creator put a lot of effort and emotion into the story and characters, and that the staff did an excellent job bringing it to life.

Number 4:
Paranoia Agent (1 Season 13 Episodes)
Tsukiko Sagi, the quiet character designer behind the wildly popular pink dog Maromi, is under pressure to repeat her success. She is attacked by an elementary school guy on inline skates as she walks home one night. The case has been handed to two police detectives, Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa. Until they hear of a second victim, they assume Tsukiko is lying about the incident. Lil’ Slugger, the assailant, is soon implicated in a series of street assaults in Tokyo. The victims have no recollection of the boy’s face, leaving just three definite details in their minds: golden inline skates, a baseball cap, and the weapon, a bent golden baseball bat. Ikari and Maniwa set out to find the criminal and put an end to his heinous crimes.
This is something I strongly recommend you to do. Take a look at the Opening and think about it. What did you think of the song? What about the song’s lyrics? Did you find the characters’ laughter (yes, they are laughing) creepy? What about the characters and the art? What did you think of it? If you enjoyed the opening, I strongly recommend you to watch the anime since I believe it does an excellent job of portraying the anime.

Number 3:
Kaiji (2 Season 52 Episodes)
Itoh Kaiji, a scumbag with a debt of 3 million yen, embarks on a gambling cruise to pay off his obligations. Gentei Janken (Restricted Rock-Paper-Scissors) is the game played on the cruise, in which participants are given four cards of each type and must battle it out. What’s the catch, exactly? Several factors come into play: each card can only be used once, cards can be purchased from other players, con men abound, and loss forces one into the hazily defined but terrifying “other chamber.” Also, in order to pay off their obligations, one must not only break even in the real matches but also earn enough money through the purchase and selling of “stars” (3 of which are equivalent a trip off the ship). A simple notion that is elaborated on in a cleverly intense manner. That is, after all, the first arc. The later arcs continue with societal concerns, and it becomes philosophical in a gritty sense. However, the “finish” is disappointingly flat and devoid of climax. The final four-episode plot feels a little rushed, leaving Season 2 wide open.
Kaiji is an extremely ambitious, one-of-a-kind, addictive, but sometimes incredibly frustrating series. It does enough things well to merit the accolades it receives, but you may punch your laptop or television screen many times. I still think it’s worth watching, but you’ve been forewarned!

Number 2:
B: The Beginning (1 Season 12 Episodes)
Crime and action wash over the archipelagic nation of Cremona, inspired by the real city of Cremona in Italy and other cities of Lombardy such as Milan, in a world fueled by modern technology. The main character is “Murderer B,” a vigilante serial killer who has wreaked havoc on the metropolis. On the way to achieving their goals, the stories of the protagonist Koku, Keith, a legendary investigator of the Royal Investigation Service (RIS), and a mysterious criminal organization interweave. Koku is a demi-human who can shape shift sections of his body into swords and wings. Keith Flick is seeking to solve the murder of his sister 8 years ago while attempting to save his childhood friend Yuna. Both of them are up against the Market Maker, a shadowy group that controls the island’s government, to figure out what Koku’s magical abilities are and where they come from.
I have to admit that for an anime with no manga or materials, it is incredibly intriguing, and I would watch it all over again to experience the same thrills and fantastic feeling of seeing a mystery emerge. The conclusion is incredibly satisfactory, with no cliffhangers. The best part is that the show may be renewed for a second season, which I hope will be even better than the first. The guys did a fantastic job with this.

Number 1:
Detective Conan (1045 Episodes, Still On-Going)
Jimmy Kudo is a high school investigator who occasionally collaborates with law enforcement to solve problems. During an inquiry, he is ambushed and rendered unconscious by a member of the Black Organization, a criminal gang. They forced-fed the young detective a deadly experimental medicine in an attempt to murder him. Instead of murdering him, it turns him into a child. Kudo lives with his childhood friend Rachel Moore (Ran Mori) and her father Richard, a private detective, under the alias Conan Edogawa and keeps his true identity hidden. Throughout the series, he joins Richard on his cases. Nonetheless, once Kudo has solved one, he would sedate Richard with Dr Agasa’s concealed sedative, then use a voice changer to imitate his voice to reveal the solution. He also enrols at a local elementary school, where he meets a group of classmates with whom he forms his own Junior Detective club. While pursuing the Black Organization, he meets a variety of people, including his next-door neighbour, Dr Agasa, Ran’s friend Serena Sebastian, fellow juvenile detective Harley Hartwell, assorted police detectives from various locations, and a phantom thief known as the Kaito Kid. Later, Kudo meets Anita Hailey, an elementary school transfer student who reveals herself to be a former Black Organization member and the inventor of the experimental medicine that shrunk him. She, too, had taken it to avoid the organization’s pursuit. She quickly becomes a member of the Junior Detectives. Conan assists the FBI in planting a CIA agent, Kir, inside the Black Organization as a spy during a rare encounter with the organization.
Overall, “Detective Conan” is all and more, maybe my all-time favourite as well as the favourite of many other fans. It may be tedious for people who dislike being bombarded with information, but mystery enthusiasts and intellectuals are sure to enjoy it.
