Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer won over 40% of the total votes in Anime Corner’s Winter 2022 Polls for Week 5. Attack on Titan ranked first with 23.70% of the votes, while Demon Slayer was second with 16.38%. Both series delivered high-quality episodes, with Attack on Titan focusing on Eren’s dark path and Demon Slayer highlighting Tengen’s fight with amazing animation by studio ufotable.
Here’s a breakdown of numbers: 19,248 people voted in Week 5 polls and cast a total of 66,005 votes. Out of this number, Attack on Titan got 15,643 votes and Demon Slayer got 10,813. The percentages are rounded to 2 decimals, and with 26,456 votes these two took home over 40% of the total votes. To help put things into perspective, the 3rd ranking anime this week was The Case Study of Vanitas with “only” 5.54% of the votes, followed by My Dress-Up Darling which had 4.15% and was the highest-ranked non-sequel.
Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer have been consistently top-ranking on Anime Corner polls since the Winter 2022 season started. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc started airing in December, so it carried over from the Fall 2021 season. In the first poll of the year, it ranked first with 13.86% of the votes, while Attack on Titan was closely following in 2nd place (11.25% of the votes). The second week was the same but with higher percentages. Demon Slayer had 15.08% and Attack on Titan 13.06% of the votes.
Things got heated in the 3rd week with Attack on Titan taking the top spot with a huge lead. 20.35% of the voters chose to vote for it, after an amazing episode with an explosive ending that had many fans losing their heads. In comparison, Demon Slayer was chosen by 11.87% of the voters.
The fourth poll of the season saw a sudden twist. Attack on Titan ranked first, with 22% of the votes – an expected outcome as it delivered an amazing episode filled with twists and turns. But, Demon Slayer, despite having another beautifully-animated episode dropped the 3rd spot, with The Case Study of Vanitas taking the 2nd place with a narrow lead (9.64% of the votes compared to Demon Slayer’s 9.53%). And this leads us to this week’s results, in which Demon Slayer made a comeback but was still unable to outdo Attack on Titan.
Demon Slayer ends today, with an extended final episode. It will be interesting to see if it will be able to win in the upcoming poll with its grand finale and what will probably be more spectacular animation. However, we can’t neglect Attack on Titan which is wrapping up its nearly decade-long (anime) saga with the final arc and a huge fandom that has been very supportive of the anime so far. One thing is certain – both of these shows airing on the same day make for a great weekend experience for many anime fans.
