Sword Art Online revealed a 16-minute long trailer with the theme “Looking Back”, as part of the 10th-anniversary project. The video features the iconic scenes from seasons 1 to 3 of the anime. Each arc of the series was specified and all of the opening songs were played. The new trailer is also the Sword Art Online in 16 minutes. You can watch the video below:
The anime will mark its 10th-anniversary on July 8, 2022. The anime also had a stage in AnimeJapan 2022, with the theme “The Beginning”, for the sole purpose of commemorating the show’s 10th-anniversary. A trailer with the title “Full Dive” has also been unveiled at the event.

The first season of the anime aired in the year 2012. It was followed by an anime film titled Sword Art Online: Extra Edition which premiered in Japan in 2013. In 2014, season 2 of the series, titled Sword Art Online II aired. After three years, the franchise came back in 2017 with a movie titled Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. Tomohiko Ito (Hello World) directed all of it. Then, the 3rd season titled Sword Art Online: Alicization aired in the year 2018, and it was followed by Sword Art Online: Alicization -War of Underworld-, which ended in 2020. Manabu Ono (Hellsing) was the director of the Alicization series, and A-1 Pictures animated all of it.
The anime is based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novel series. ASCII Media Works has been publishing it with abec’s illustrations since 2009. Yen Press licensed the series in English and describes the plot as:
