Classroom of the Elite Year 2‘s Volume 7 was released on June 24 and revealed that the series’ upcoming anime adaptation Classroom of the Elite Season 2 will bring fans a bonus light novel volume, titled Volume 0. The bonus chapter will focus on Kiyotaka Ayanokoji’s past and will be released with Blu-ray and DVD editions.
The prelude to the Classroom of the Elite light novel series will depict the protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokoji’s past with illustrations drawn by the series’ illustrator Shunsaku Tomose that will match the style of the other light novel volumes.
“As Volume 0 says, it digs into Ayanokoji’s past,” the author Shogo Kinugasa wrote in the seventh volume. “Thanks to full cooperation from the illustrator Mr. Shunsaku, [Volume 0] is as thick and has as many illustrations as the main series, so I hope you look forward to it.” he added.
No further information about the potential release dates of the Blu-ray, DVD, and therefore bonus light novel is available at this time.
Shogo Kinugasa is writing the story of Classroom of the Elite light novels with art by Shunsaku Tomose. The series is currently being published by Kadokawa under the light novel brand MF Bunko J. Volume 1 was released in May 2015 and the series concluded Year 1 with Volume 11.5 in September 2019. Year 1 received an anime adaptation and aired from July to September 2017, however, the full story from the light novels was not covered. In February 2022, it was announced that the anime’s 2nd and 3rd seasons will cover the remaining part of the story. Season 2 is scheduled to start broadcasting on July 4, 2022. while season 3 is set for 2023. You can check a trailer for the anime adaptations.
