The manga Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni (Land of Gold, Land of Water) is getting an anime film adaptation, which will premiere in spring of 2023. As part of the announcement, a visual was released:
The anime film will be animated by Madhouse, and directed by Kotono Watanabe. Fumi Tsubota is writing the script. No other information about other cast and staff has been announced at this moment.
The series’ mangaka Nao Iwamoto, also commented on the news about the announcement:
“Thank you for visualizing “Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni”. I’m looking forward to seeing the people I drew on paper moving and talking on the screen.“
Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni was serialized in Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine from October 2014 to April 2016. The manga tells the story of two neighboring countries who never agreed with one another, even going as far as to settle things in the most trivial ways possible. One day, fate has it that a princess by the name of Sara meets a young man named Naranbayar, who comes from the opposing country.
The manga topped Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for female readers in 2017.
